Brentwood Planning Commission meeting
Brentwood Planning Commission meeting
When: May 3rd, 2022 at 7:00 pm
Where: https://www.brentwoodca.gov/planningmeetingonline
Please consider speaking during public comments tonight at 7pm (you have 3 minutes) - https://www.brentwoodca.gov/planningmeetingonline or send an email to PlanningCommission@brentwoodca.gov.
For resident opposing Blue Bird Village project tonight's meeting will be another opportunity to voice their opinion.
Planning Commission will discuss the first residential development project invoking State Density Bonus Law - Orchard Grove/Adams Lane by Shea Homes.
"The housing laws that affect the Orchard Grove project directly limit the City’s ability to respond to issues about density, development standards, and design standards. Although there are a variety of housing laws that apply to this project, the most relevant is the State Density Bonus law (Government Code2 (§ 65915-65918)"
Residents will be able to see how Sacramento, via the abusive housing laws, removed decision power from local governments, to allow developers to build what they want to build and how they want to build.
Regardless of tonight's decision, the main concerns about Orchard Grove project are:
- traffic impact - The proposed development is expected to generate 481 daily vehicle trips from 51 homes, across the street from a 800 students public school, next to a 160 students private school, and on the same street with a large and busy park, without any significant road improvements.
- Impact on potable water resources for Brentwood by increasing number of residents
- Imbalanced local jobs/economic development - housing ratio
- Inadequate Emergency and fire services in the area and Brentwood overall
- Negative impacts of 4 years of construction on the surrounding neighborhoods by added construction traffic, noise, loss of a safe road to walk and exercise for Brentwood residents.
